Clinical Observation on the Distance between Cemento-enamel Junction and Bifurcation of Root in Molars.

Abstract
Three hundred thirty five extracted upper and lower molars were measured buccally and lingually to determine the mean on the distance between cemento-enamel junction and the level of the most apically located point of the bifurcation.
1. Bifurcation of the root of the each tooth were as follows;
Lower first molar; cervically one-fourth df total root length.
Lower second molar; cervically one-third of total root length
Upper first molar; cervically one-third of total root length
Upper second molar; cervically half of total root length
2. In the distance between cemento-enamel junction and bifurcation of root, the mean values were as follows;
Lower first molar;
a. buccally, ¡Î 2.62mm ¡Ï 2.81mm
b. Lingually, ¡Î 3.90mm ¡Ï 3.86mm
Lower second molar;
a. buccally, ¡Î 3.50mm ¡Ï 3.49mm
b. Lingually, ¡Î 4.54mm ¡Ï 4.56mm
Upper first molar;
a. Buccaly, ¡Î 4.08mm ¡Ï 4.08mm
b. Mesially, ¡Î 4.66mm ¡Ï 4.66mm
c. Distally, ¡Î 5.11mm ¡Ï 5.04mm
Upper second molar;
a. Buccally, ¡Î 5.22mm ¡Ï 5.20mm
b. Mesially, ¡Î 5.55mm ¡Ï 5.49mm
c. Distally, ¡Î 5.87mm ¡Ï 5.75mm
